Every person has a birthright to hear the Gospel at least once.

That conviction is the heart of Operation 326—an effort to identify, understand, pray for, and help engage people groups who remain beyond the reach of a known Christian witness. It is not simply a list, a campaign, or a number. It is an assignment shaped by the words of Jesus in Acts 1:8: to be His witnesses locally, regionally, cross-culturally, and to the ends of the earth.

Why Operation 326 exists

Mission research has made extraordinary progress. Yet behind every dataset are real people: families, languages, communities, histories, and places where access can be difficult and information incomplete. Some groups may have no known Christians, no resident workers, no church, no available Scripture, and no Gospel media in the language people understand best. Others may have received an initial witness that has not yet been fully documented.

Operation 326 exists to help close that gap. The public Operation 326 research page organizes peoples by region, identifies current research status, offers prayer cards, and invites field updates. A star beside certain names indicates that a pioneer is ready to visit and needs sponsorship. The page also gives researchers and ministry partners a way to submit new information.

Research before declaration

Determining whether a people has been reached is rarely as simple as finding a name in a database. Similar names can describe different communities. One broad label can hide several distinct peoples. A language may cross national boundaries while the people on each side of the border live in very different spiritual and social conditions.

For that reason, our research will increasingly connect every record to four identity controls: a recognized people identifier, an ISO language code, a country-specific subgroup, and a confidence assessment for the underlying taxonomy. These controls help prevent two serious errors: treating different peoples as though they are the same, or counting the same people more than once under several spellings.

We will also compare multiple sources. The Operation 326 record remains our working source of truth, but important findings should be tested against respected mission and language resources and, whenever possible, verified through trusted people close to the field. A database difference is not automatically proof that one source is wrong. It is a signal to investigate.

What “reached” should mean

A status change carries responsibility. We will not declare a people reached because of one report, one trip, or one encouraging conversation. Evidence may include a credible local believer or fellowship, sustained Gospel access, Scripture or media availability, trusted field confirmation, and a realistic path toward ongoing discipleship and church formation.

Likewise, we will not automatically reverse an existing reached status when another source disagrees. Instead, we will preserve the record, identify the discrepancy, assess the evidence, and recommend the next verification step. The goal is neither inflated success nor endless uncertainty. The goal is an honest picture that helps the global Church finish the assignment wisely.

Not every finding can be published. In sensitive regions, a name, precise location, photograph, or field detail could put people at risk. We will protect identities and operational information while sharing enough evidence for accountability and informed prayer.

We want research that leads to prayer, prayer that leads to obedience, and obedience that results in a faithful witness where none is yet known.
